The Minnesota Vikings needed to have their roster down to 85 players by 3:00 PM Central on Tuesday afternoon, and they reached that goal by waiving cornerback Amari Henderson.
Henderson was signed by the Vikings following their tryout camp this past May. Henderson was an undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest in 2020 and spent part of last season on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad.
Henderson saw very little action in the 33-6 loss to the Denver Broncos in the preseason opener. He played no snaps on defense and only two on special teams, so it doesn’t appear that this is going to shake up too many things.
The next roster deadline for the Vikings is a week from today, when the roster has to go from 85 to 80 players. We are just two weeks away from the big cutdowns, as NFL rosters need to be reduced to 53 players by 3:00 PM Central time on 31 August.
