Happy Monday, everyone!
Hey, I hope eeryone had a great weekend. I did, for the most part. Little fishin’ and I went camping on Friday, then while we were camping, I ran across an AMAZING deal on a used Hobie kayak, which I’ve been wanting to purchase for quite some time. In the end, I spent $1,000 for a kayak that’s hardly been used instead of paying between $5,000 and $6,000 for the same setup. Took it home, cleaned it up, and it’s in GREAT shape. That’s the good news. The other part of the weekend, and the reason I haven’t gotten to try out the kayak yet, is that I got stung by a bee/wasp/hornet/something on Wednesday, and I think swimming in the lake on Saturday might have caused an infection, because my ankle (where the jacka** stung me) swelled up a bit, and I felt like dog doo-doo. I went to the doc on Saturday night, and still wasn’t feeling better on Sunday. No energy, temp over 100, and alternated between being hot and having chills. Seriously, I sat in the 104 degree hot tub, shivering. I went back Sunday, and they gave me a shot, which seems to be helping, although now it feels like a horse kicked me in the a**. Oh well, better than having no energy.
Around the football world, it looks like the Vikings must be very happy they picked up Dede Westbrook with Bisi Johson going down for the year, and they may want to sign MOAR QUARTERBACKS. This might be the scenario we need to bring Teddy back (I threw that in there to upset Mark). Is Tebow available?
Around the DN since our last open thread:
From Chris, the Vikings are exploring a couple of options at quarterback.
Also from Chris, it was Twenty years ago that we lost Korey Stringer. Rest in peace, big man.
News from training camp, none of it good: Bisi Johnson suffered a torn ACL, and will be out for the 2021 season. Also, several Vikings were held out of Saturday night practice.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:
From NFL.com’s training camp roundup, the Colts signed Brett Hundley after the Carson Wentz injury, and more from around the league.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away-
While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip the cows, and remember that our special on Sloth Soup begins at 200 comments. Welcome Aboard!
