Denver Broncos v Minnesota Vikings preseason NFL football

We are less than 24 hours away from the second preseason game of the 2021 NFL season, and it will once again see the Minnesota Vikings take to the turf at U.S. Bank Stadium to host an AFC opponent, this time the Indianapolis Colts. We’re going to let everyone know how they can follow along with all the action, because it’s going to be a little trickier this week than it was last week for most folks.

Television Info

This game is set to kick off from the NFL’s best stadium at 7:00 PM Central time on Saturday, 21 August. Unlike last week’s game, this one will not be shown live on the NFL Network, so most of us are not going to be able to see it live. If you’re located anywhere near any of these cities, you’ll be able to watch it live.

  • KMSP (FOX/9 - Minneapolis, MN)
  • WDIO (ABC/10-13 - Duluth, MN)
  • KTTC (CW/10.2 - Rochester, MN)
  • KEYC (FOX/12.2 - Mankato, MN)
  • KVRR (FOX/15 - Fargo, ND)
  • KFYR (FOX/5.2 - Bismarck, ND)
  • KMOT (FOX/10.2 - Minot, ND)
  • KSFY (ABC/13 - Sioux Falls, SD)
  • KCCI (H&I/8.3 - Des Moines, IA)
  • KGCW (CW/23 - Quad Cities, IA)
  • WLAX (FOX/25 - La Crosse, WI)
  • WEUX (FOX/48 - Eau Claire, WI)
  • KETV (ABC/7 - Omaha, NE)

Also, if you’re closer to the Colts’ home market, you’ll be able to watch it on these networks, with play-by-play being provided by Greg Rakestraw and Rick Venturi.

  • WXIN (FOX/59 - Indianapolis, IN)
  • WBKI (CW/58 - Louisville, KY)
  • WFFT (FOX/55 - Fort Wayne, IN)
  • WBND (ABC/57 - South Bend, IN)
  • WAWV (ABC/38 - Terre Haute, IN)
  • WEHT (ABC/25 - Evansville, IN)
  • KHON (CW/2.2 - Honolulu, HI)

The Colts are big in Hawai’i, I guess. Who knew?

If you’re going to be looking for the NFL Network replay, you’d better set your DVR. The only replay that I can see on their listings is scheduled for Monday, 23 August, at 3:30 AM Central time. Yeesh.

Radio Info

If you do not have access to a television, you can find the game on the radio courtesy of the Vikings Radio Network. With KFAN-FM (100.3) serving as the flagship, the Vikings Radio Network has affiliates all over the Upper Midwest. Be sure to check the site to see if there’s an affiliate in your area.

If you have satellite radio, you’ll be able to hear the Vikings Radio Network feed on Channel 230 on both the Sirius and XM sides of the house. If you’re using the SiriusXM app, the Vikings’ permanent home there is Channel 820.

Referee Info

The listings from Football Zebras tell us that the officiating crew for this week’s contest will be led by Clay Martin. The Vikings have not seen Martin since 2019, when his crew was on the call for the Vikings’ epic 27-23 comeback win over the Denver Broncos at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Weather Info

Once again, the weather is not going to be playing a factor in the game itself. However, as we alluded to earlier today, the weather is nice enough that the big doors at U.S. Bank Stadium will be open. According to our friends at WeatherNation, the kickoff temperature will be around 70 degrees with winds coming out of the northwest at 10-15 miles/hour.

Streaming Info

Your best bet for streaming as it stands right now is a free trial of NFL Game Pass. They’re doing the 7-day free trial thing if you want to look into it. You could also look at something like Fubo.tv for your streaming needs.

As always. . .and I know people are going to complain about it anyway. . .please don’t go around promoting free streams here at The Daily Norseman. Don’t even hint at them, really. Not here, not in the FanPosts or the FanShots, not anywhere else. Accounts that promote such things will go into the ban pile immediately.

Open Thread Info

With this being a preseason game, there will be an Open Thread. I don’t know if we’ll do one for each quarter, but we’ll likely have one for each half. Once the regular season comes around we’ll get back to quarterly Open Threads.

There won’t be a live postgame this week because none of us will actually be able to watch this one live. There may or may not be one following the Chiefs game next week. We shall see.

But, that’s all of the information you need to follow along with the action between the Vikings and the Colts tomorrow night. We hope that you’ll come on in and join us for the Open Thread, especially if you’re watching the action as it happens.
