The next round of roster cuts is upon us, as the Minnesota Vikings and the rest of the NFL teams have to have their rosters down to 80 players by 3:00 PM Central time on Tuesday afternoon. The team has started down that path by making a couple of roster moves today.
The team has waived defensive back Dylan Mabin and wide receiver Warren Jackson.
Jackson was signed by the Vikings a couple of weeks ago in response to the season-ending injury to his former college teammate, Bisi Johnson. In two preseason contests, Jackson did not record a reception.
The Vikings signed Mabin off of the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad last season, and he played in three games for the team in 2020, recording a couple of tackles in the season finale against the Detroit Lions.
With these two moves, the Vikings’ roster is now down to 82 players, as they did not sign anyone to fill the vacancy created when linebacker Cameron Smith announced his retirement last week. After this round of cuts, the big one will come a week from Tuesday when teams have to reduce their rosters to their final 53.
When the Vikings announce who their cuts to get down to 80 are, we will have the news for you right here.
