To everyone except the quarterbacks, wide receivers not named Adam or JJ, backup safeties, and kickers; the aformentioned groups need to go look in the mirror and get their football together before the start of the season in two weeks. Last night should have been a confidence builder but instead was the same miscues; overthrows on simple passes, miscommunication and plain poor play.
Now that we have that out of the way, it’s fair to point out Cook, the Hitman, Jefferson etc. have not seen meaningful time during the preseason games so the offense and defense will have different players when they take the field in Cincinnati but it’s fair to say the backups look like backups and are not ready for primetime.
I’m not throwing anything on the smoker today since it’s just mrs_rob and I for dinner, but if you are I want to hear about it.
Meanwhile, we’ll carry on with our news and links open thread full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s the weekend, time to fire up the smoker and start chilling the beer, or go to work.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Kansas City Chiefs 28, Minnesota Vikings 25: Hey, at least the offense scored.
Vikings news from other sources:
2021 NFL preseason, Week 3: What we learned from Friday’s games.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to wash your hands, watch out for the dude behind the plexiglass and Welcome Aboard!
0-3 in the preseason with a disjointed offense and a somewhat confused defense. Is it time to panic?
This poll is closed
Bring on the panic, season is lost before it begins.
It’s the preseason, let’s pump the brakes and see how this plays out over the first four to six games.
I’m just here for the nap strategies and crockpot recipes.
