Though the Minnesota Vikings have been dealing with some issues at tight end over the past few days, they are still parting ways with one as a part of their final cuts.
The team has announced that they are waiving tight end Shane Zylstra as part of their cuts to get down to 53 players.
Zylstra played his college ball at Minnesota State University in Mankato, the alma mater of Vikings’ star Adam Thielen. Zylstra, the younger brother of former Vikings receiver Brandon Zylstra, broke a lot of Thielen’s school records and was signed as an undrafted free agent after Minnesota’s post-draft tryout camp this offseason.
In three preseason games, Zylstra caught just one pass for two yards.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Vikings will be bringing Zylstra back to be a part of their practice squad. Teams can start building their practice squads on Wednesday.
We are tracking all of the Vikings’ final cuts on our Roster Cut Tracker, which you can find right here.
