With the Minnesota Vikings attempting to get their roster to 53 players by today’s 3:00 PM Central deadline, we have one that appears to be a bit of a surprise.
The team has chosen to waive wide receiver Chad Beebe as a part of their final cuts. Beebe was waived with an injury designation, meaning that if he passes through waivers he will go on the Vikings’ injured reserve list.
Beebe has been with the Vikings since signing with the team as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois in 2018. He’s had quite a few ups and downs during his time with the Vikings, including last year’s game against Carolina when he went from the goat after muffing a punt return to a hero by hauling in the winning touchdown pass just minutes later.
In his career with Minnesota, Beebe has caught 26 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns.
With the moves the Vikings had made this offseason, such as signing Dede Westbrook and drafting Ihmir Smith-Marsette, Beebe’s road to making the roster got a little rougher, but this still comes as a significant surprise.
We are tracking all of the Vikings’ cuts for today on our Roster Cut Tracker, which you can find right here.
