Merry Wednesday, everyone!
Well, the one major black mark on this Vikings off-season was resolved yesterday, as Jeff Gladney was indicted on felony domestic violence charges, and was subsequently released by the team. I’m going to assume that Gladney had a chance to present his side of the story to the team, and they obviously weren’t swayed. It’s too bad, the kid had potential. He still does, I suppose, and I won’t be surprised to see him wearing another team’s uniform at some point once his case goes through the system, or possibly before then. I’ll withold judgement on the guy until he gets his day in court, but I’ll also assume the team did their own investigation, and they likely made the correct decision.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
As I mentioned above, Jeff Gladney was indicted and was later released by the Vikings, Chris has the details.
Arif was here, and he brings you Norse Code Podcast Episode 378: The Rise of Jake Browning.
BJ Reidell and Drew Mahowald discuss the latest Vikings happenings on Unbelievable! - New Challenges at Vikings Camp.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:
From NFL.com, in reference to Ben Rothlisberger, Art Rooney II says that “it’s not written in stone that this is his last year”. That makes sense, they don’t really write things in stone anymore, except on headstones and such. Those are granite, I think, and granite is a stone. There would really be no reason to put Rothlisberger’s career plans on a headstone, though. Odd statement.
Giants HC Joe Judge has disciplined players after on on-field brawl during training camp, per NFL.com. Gentlemen, this is a war room, you can’t fight in here!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)|
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer|
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away-
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip the cows, and remember that our special on Sloth Soup begins at 200 comments. Welcome Aboard!
