After a couple of very tough losses in the first two weeks of the season, the Minnesota Vikings will return home to U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 3. They’ll play a game that actually means something in front of the home crowd for the first time since Week 16 of the 2019 season when they play host to a team that has had their number in recent years, the Seattle Seahawks.
The Vikings had both of their first two games decided by field goals with zeroes showing on the clock. They lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in overtime in Week 1 by a final score of 27-24 on a field goal on the final play, and watched as a 37-yard attempt by Greg Joseph that would have won the game sailed wide right on the final play of their 34-33 loss to the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday.
Seattle split their first two games of the season, both against AFC opponents. They traveled to take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 and emerged victorious by a final score of 28-16. This past Sunday, they played their home opener when they hosted the Tennessee Titans and, despite holding a 14-point lead early in the fourth quarter, fell in overtime by a final score of 33-30.
The Vikings have not beaten the Seahawks since the 2009 season. That means they have never beaten Pete Carroll and they’ve never beaten Russell Wilson. If the purple want to avoid an 0-3 start, they’re going to have to change that this Sunday.
Kickoff for this one is scheduled for 3:25 PM Central time on FOX affiliates around the country. Kevin Kugler and Mark Sanchez will be on the call for this one.
