Happy Monday, everyone!
This is one of those holidays that seems odd to me. According to Wikipedia (salt block) Labor Day is a holiday created to recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States. Basically, the holiday is to honor those who worked hard, and we honor them by.......taking the day off of work. It just seems counter-intuitive to me, but my mind works differently than a lot of peoples’ minds work. My wife reminds me of this very often.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
wludford brings you his Vikings 2021-22 season forecast.
Chris will have the Daily Norseman 2021 Pick ‘Em and Survivor sign-ups coming today. Get signed up! I did, I’ll do my best to remember to make my picks, I set up notifications.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:
From NFL.com, G Zack Martin has tested positive for Covid and will miss the season opener.
ESPN looks at the 2021 rule changes and how teams may use them to their advantage.
CBS Sports lists 11 big-name free agents who are still avaialable. I’m not sure I agree with this list. I mean, Cam Newton is on there, and he only has 9 letters in his name, that’s not a very big name, in my opinion, but what do I know?
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip the cows, and remember that our special on sloth soup begins at 200 comments (better enjoy it, tomorrow is our last day!). Oh, and most importantly, Welcome Aboard!!!!!
