Opening Odds: Vikings open as slightest of underdogs at Green Bay

Not sure if it’s a surprise or not

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Two teams that are heading in opposite directions will meet at Lambeau Field in Week 8, as the Minnesota Vikings will travel to face the Green Bay Packers in the first of their two NFC North matchups this season. The opening line in this one has the Vikings as an underdog, but not by a whole lot.

The folks at the DraftKings Sportsbook have installed the Packers as a 1-point favorite in the early betting. The line was a little wobbly at first, with the initial open at Packers -1.5 and eventually swelling to -2.5 before dropping back down to the 1-point line it’s currently at.

The Vikings come into this one having won two straight, first holding off the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in Week 6 and then winning a thriller on Monday night over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. The Packers come into this one having dropped three games in a row, with a home loss to the Detroit Lions followed up by back-to-back road losses to the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos. The Vikings will see the Broncos and Raiders later this season.

It’s important to note that this will be the first game of the post-Aaron Rodgers Packers era between these two teams, as Jordan Love is officially at the helm for Green Bay. Despite Love’s struggles thus far, the Packers are a home favorite heading into this Week 8 matchup.

I don’t know if the line is going to stay with Green Bay as the favorite in this one, but that’s where things are right now. If you want to bet the Vikings and get at least a point to go with your wager, you might want to go ahead and jump on that sooner rather than later.
