The Minnesota Vikings have found their new quarterback.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Vikings are trading for Cardinals quarterback Josh Dobbs. The compensation is a late-round pick swap, with the Vikings sending out a 6th-round pick to Arizona in exchange for a 7th-round pick and Josh Dobbs, per Josina Anderson.
The #Vikings are trading for #AZCardinals QB Josh Dobbs, with plenty of starting experience, per me and @TomPelissero.

Dobbs signed a 1-year, $1,035,000 contract last March with the Cleveland Browns, before being traded to the Arizona Cardinals.
According to Spotrac the Vikings will be responsible for $833,330 and will have Dobbs on a full 1 year contract. The Cardinals paid Dobbs $666k (this is halloween, right?) for 8 weeks of NFL starting play.
In 8 starts this year Dobbs has passed for 1569 yards with 8 TDs and 5 interceptions. He has a yards per attempt of 5.9, and a rating of of 81.2. He is 1-7 as the Cardinal’s QB this year, but that is probably less a function of Dobbs alone and more a function of the team on the whole. The Cardinals rank 5th worst in points against this year (27/32) and 22nd in points for.
His only win this year was a very impressive outing against a very good Dallas Cowboys team who was undefeated at the time. Dobbs went 17-21 for one TD and 189 yards with 0 turnovers.
His last game, a close loss (24-31) against a very good Baltimore Ravens team, he went 25-37, 208 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, and a rushing TD (26 yards on 6 attempts).
The Vikings will be Dobbs’ 7th NFL Franchise after a respectable college career at Tennessee. He has played NFL regular season games for the Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Arizona Cardinals. This will be Dobbs second stint in the NFC North after being signed to Detroit’s practice squad briefly in December 2022.
Dobbs’ career statline reads: 16G, 10 GS, 1-9-0 as a starter (largely with underwhelming teams), 217-351 (61.8% Comp.), 2025 passing yards, 10 TDs, 8 INTs. Dobbs has been sacked 23 times for 152 yards. Dobbs has also rushed for 333 yards on 61 attempts and 3 TDs, while fumbling the ball 12 times.
Dobbs is originally from Alpharetta, GA, a suburb of Atlanta and is 28 years old.
