Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings: Key information and first quarter discussion

Are you ready for some football?

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Denver Broncos Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

We made it, ladies and gentlemen! We are just an hour away from the kickoff of Monday Night Football at U.S. Bank Stadium as our Minnesota Vikings play host to the Chicago Bears. Here’s everything you need to know to be caught up on tonight’s action.

Date and Time: Monday, 27 November 2023, 7:20 PM Central time

Location: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Television Coverage: KSTP-5 in the Twin Cities, ABC affiliates around the country, ESPN

Radio Coverage: Vikings Radio Network, SiriusXM Channel 225 (Vikings feed), SiriusXM Channel 88 (Westwood One feed), SiriusXM App Channel 820

Line: Vikings -3, Over/Under 41

Chris’ Prediction: Vikings 23, Bears 20

Three Keys

1) Once again, stop turning the ball over: The Vikings had done a pretty good job at mitigating mistakes during their five-game winning streak, but wound up being -3 in the turnover ratio in their loss to Denver last Sunday. The Vikings can’t afford to hand the ball to the other team, particularly one that they should beat. Take care of the ball and the game should take care of itself.

2) Get pressure on Justin Fields: The Vikings knocked Fields out of the last game between these two teams, but he’s back in the driver’s seat for this game. Brian Flores needs to continue to do everything he can to confuse Fields and keep him off-balance. He’s capable of doing big things if he gets comfortable, so the Vikings can’t afford to let him get to that point.

3) Start fast: The Vikings had a rough loss last week and they’ve had to sit and stew over it. They need to get that out of their heads and get off to a quick start in this one. That will put a Bears’ offense that isn’t built to play from behind in a position to do just that and get the U.S. Bank Stadium crowd involved. If the Vikings can start fast, they can make life rough for the Bears tonight.

That should be everything you need to get ready for this one, folks. As always, we’ll have a new Open Thread dropping at the start of each quarter, so keep an eye out for those and keep the conversation moving along accordingly.

Here’s hoping that in about three hours or so we’ll all feel like this one was worth staying up late for.
