Getting things started early

With this week’s game coming on Saturday afternoon, preparations for the Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals ahead of their clash in Ohio have already gotten underway. Both teams put out estimated injury reports for Saturday’s game as they both conducted walkthroughs today, and both have significant things to keep an eye on ahead of the final reports that will come out on Thursday. Let’s take a look.

Minnesota Vikings

Did Not Participate

  • RB Alexander Mattison (ankle)
  • WR Jalen Nailor (concussion)
  • OT Brian O’Neill (ankle)

Limited Participation

  • G Ed Ingram (hip)
  • WR Justin Jefferson (chest)
  • G Dalton Risner (ankle)

Full Participation

No players listed

Everyone on the injury list for the Vikings left the victory over the Raiders early, except for Ingram who was inactive for the game. Risner eventually came back into the game and finished things out but did have to sit out a few plays after his ankle got rolled up on. It’s going to take a lot for the guys who are already non-participants to get things going in time for Saturday. Jefferson’s status is, obviously, worth monitoring going forward.

Cincinnati Bengals

Did Not Participate

  • LB Joe Bachie (oblique)
  • WR Ja’Marr Chase (ankle)

Limited Participation

  • WR Tyler Boyd (foot/ankle)
  • CB D.J. Turner II (ankle)

Full Participation

  • CB Chidobe Awuzie (shoulder)
  • QB Jake Browning (right forearm)
  • TE Mitchell Wilcox (knee)

Chase being on the injury report for the Bengals is significant, given that he’s one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. As I said about the Vikings report, guys that are already not participating might have a tough time making the quick turnaround but we’ll see what the Bengals do with Chase. Browning is currently slated to start at quarterback for Cincinnati so I’m guessing his injury isn’t going to be severe enough to keep him away from this one.

Those are the initial injury reports for the week for the Vikings and the Bengals, everyone. We’ll keep these updated throughout the week.
