In the Minnesota Vikings’ 3-0 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders this past Sunday, rookie linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. was dominant all over the field, and on Wednesday he was recognized for his performance.
Pace was named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, becoming the third member of the Vikings this season to secure the weekly honor.
In addition to the game-sealing interception of Aidan O’Connell with than two minutes remaining, Pace had thirteen tackles and a sack in leading the Vikings’ defense to their first shutout since the 2017 season. He has taken over as the primary defensive play caller since Jordan Hicks was placed on injured reserve with a leg injury and has turned into one of the best players on the Minnesota defense.
Pace joins Hicks, who was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week back in Week 6, and Camryn Bynum, who won the award in Week 7, in being named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week this season. Quite the accomplishment for a player that, somehow, saw over 250 players on Draft Weekend get their names called while he did not.
Congratulations to Ivan Pace Jr. on being named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 14!
