Even after shooting themselves in the foot multiple times over the course of the 2023 NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings still have a chance at a second consecutive NFC North championship. If they’re going to make that happen, it needs to start this Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium when they host the Detroit Lions.
The only path to a division championship for the Vikings has them winning their final three games while Detroit loses all of their last three contests. Given that the Vikings and the Lions face each other twice over that stretch, the purple can have a significant say over whether or not that happens, but it’s still going to be a pretty tall order.
These two teams split their two contests last season, with the Vikings winning at home in Week 5 and the Lions winning at Ford Field in Week 14. As it stands now, if the season ended today the Vikings and the Lions would face each other in the first round of the NFC playoffs, so if the current seedings hold it’s possible that these two teams would face off three times over the course of four weeks.
The DraftKings Sportsbook currently has the Vikings as a 3.5-point underdog at home in this one. The over/under is currently sitting at 47 points, which is one of the higher over/under totals of the season for a Vikings game.
Kickoff for this week’s game is slated for noon Central time on Sunday afternoon, with the game being carried on the FOX family of networks. And remember, if you’re going to be attending the game at U.S. Bank Stadium in person, the team is calling for a “Winter Whiteout” for the second consecutive season, so wear your best white Vikings apparel and get ready to cheer the Vikings on.
