Today Kevin O’Connell, as he has done many times this year, had to announce which quarterback will be starting for the purple and gold.
For the home, prime-time finale against the cheeseheads of Green Bay this Sunday, it will be Jaren Hall getting the start over Nick Mullens.
Mullens had an exceptionally rough go at it last week when the Detroit Lions came to town and kicked Minnesota’s teeth in to steal the NFC North division crown. The most derided stat line was his 4 interceptions, although he did throw for 411 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was also sacked 4 times.
Hall on the other hand only played 2 possessions of football this year before getting knocked out of the Atlanta Falcons contest in week 9 with a concussion. The subsequent emergence of Josh Dobbs sidelined Hall indefinitely, and Mullens was given the keys after Dobbs was pulled.
Hall did show some good flash in his (very) limited appearance, taking one of those possessions 74 yards to 4th and 1 at the Atlanta 1, after which the Vikings kicked a field goal after Hall was suddenly out of the contest. He was 5 for 6 with 75 yards before the injury.
Once again, the Minnesota Vikings will be starting Jaren Hall on Sunday at US Bank Stadium.
