We are just about an hour away from kickoff in Minneapolis, and that means it’s time to start our discussion threads for Sunday Night Football with our Minnesota Vikings hosting the Green Bay Packers. Here’s everything that you need to know leading up to tonight’s contest.

Date and Time: Sunday, 31 December 2023, 7:15 PM Central time

Location: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Television Coverage: KARE-11 in the Twin Cities, NBC affiliates around the country, Peacock streaming service

Radio Coverage: Vikings Radio Network, SiriusXM Channel 225 (Vikings feed), SiriusXM Channel 88 (national feed), SiriusXM App Channel 820

Line: Vikings -1, Over/Under 43.5

Chris’ Prediction: Vikings 20, Packers 17

Three Keys

1) Hey, stop turning the damn ball over - Honestly, we say this every week, but it really is this simple for the Vikings. In games where they win the turnover battle this year, they’re 6-0. In games where they don’t, they’re 1-8. If this team doesn’t beat themselves, they’re capable of some pretty positive things, so if they can stop turning the ball over for a few minutes it would really go a long way towards winning.

2) Get Jaren Hall comfortable early - Hall had an up-and-down first quarter in his first start, going three-and-out on his first drive and marching the Vikings to the goal line on his second. The Vikings need to do things that Hall excels at in order to get him comfortable early and allow him to find some rhythm in the offense.

3) Get pressure on Jordan Love - The Packers are undermanned at the wide receiver spot due to injuries in this one, so the young quarterback is going to have some added pressure on him. If Brian Flores can make him uncomfortable in the pocket it could lead to some significant mistakes that, hopefully, the Vikings can take advantage of. Love was pretty bad the first time these two teams played and replicating that would be a pretty good thing.

That should be everything you need to be prepared for this one. As always, we’ll start a new thread at the beginning of each quarter, so keep an eye out for those and keep the conversation moving along accordingly.

Here’s hoping in a few hours we’ll all be ringing in the new year with a victory.
