These two teams met at U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 16, with the Lions coming out with a 30-24 victory that allowed them to officially wrap up the NFC North title. The Lions are still, potentially, playing for the #2 seed in the conference playoffs. They can get there if they beat the Vikings and Dallas should stumble against Washington.
The Vikings are still, mathematically, alive for a playoff spot, but they need a lot of things to happen in order to back into the postseason. They need to beat Detroit and get favorable results in three other games to make it happen, though it can be debated whether or not they actually deserve to reach the postseason party after losing five of their last six games after their midseason five-game winning streak.
We also don’t know who’s starting at quarterback for the Vikings, as head coach Kevin O’Connell has said that all options are on the table. None of the options are particularly good, but they’re on the table, apparently.
The sharps have obviously given Detroit the advantage in this one, as the folks from the DraftKings Sportsbook have installed the Lions as a five-point favorite going into this week’s game. It’s actually a little surprising that the number is that low.
Kickoff for this one is slated for noon Central time on the FOX family of networks, including KMSP-9 in the Twin Cities.
