The final injury reports of the week. . .and, in the case of the Minnesota Vikings, (likely) of the season. . .are out for the purple and the Detroit Lions ahead of Sunday’s regular season finale at Ford Field. Let’s get right to it because there’s quite a bit to talk about.

Minnesota Vikings Week 18 Injury Report

Player Position Injury Wednesday Thursday Friday Sunday Status
Player Position Injury Wednesday Thursday Friday Sunday Status
Mekhi Blackmon CB Shoulder LP DNP DNP Out
Theo Jackson DB Toe DNP DNP DNP Out
Byron Murphy CB Knee DNP DNP DNP Out
Jalen Nailor WR Concussion DNP DNP DNP Out
Brian O'Neill OT Ankle DNP DNP DNP Out
Jaquelin Roy DT Ankle DNP DNP DNP Out
Christian Darrisaw OT Illness --- DNP LP Questionable
Ed Ingram G Shoulder LP LP LP Questionable
Nick Muse TE Knee LP LP FP ---
Harrison Smith S Shoulder LP LP FP ---

Yep, that’s six players already declared “out” for Minnesota, including Blackmon and O’Neill, who came back for the game against Green Bay but apparently aggravated their injuries and won’t be out there for the regular season finale. Depending on what the team does with Darrisaw, the Vikings could be without both of their starting tackles, which I’m sure Nick Mullens will be thrilled to hear.

Blackmon and Murphy both being out means that Akayleb Evans and Andrew Booth Jr. will be the top corners on Sunday afternoon, and I’m guessing there will be at least one practice squad callup to supplement them. Cam Bynum will likely see some time at corner in this one as well. But, all in all, a pretty ugly final injury report for the Vikings, and it doesn’t even include all the guys that have suffered season-ending injuries.

On the other side, Detroit doesn’t have quite as much to worry about. They’ll likely be getting Gardner-Johnson some time after he’s missed much of the season with his injury, but outside of that they don’t have a lot of significant injury issues to deal with here. It will be interesting to see what kind of balance Dan Campbell tries to strike when it comes to how long to play his starters in this one.

Those are the final injury reports of Week 18 for the Vikings and the Lions. There’s still plenty of time before kickoff and we’ll be bringing you more about this one as that time approaches.
