Let’s do this for the final time this season

We’re just about an hour away from kickoff at Ford Field, ladies and gentlemen, as the Minnesota Vikings prepare for their 2023 regular season finale when they take on the Detroit Lions. Here’s everything you need to know for this one.

Date and Time: Sunday, 7 January 2024, noon Central time

Location: Ford Field, Detroit, Michigan

Television Coverage: KMSP-9 in the Twin Cities, FOX affiliates around the country, YouTube TV Sunday Ticket

Radio Coverage: Vikings Radio Network, SiriusXM Channel 381 (Vikings feed), SiriusXM App Channel 820

Line: Vikings +3.5, Over/Under 46

Chris’ Prediction: Lions 30, Vikings 27

Three Keys

1) Can we maybe, just once, not turn the ball over? - The Vikings have had exactly two games this season without a turnover: The win over New Orleans and the win over Las Vegas. You’ll notice that both of those games were wins. The Vikings have beaten themselves a lot this year, and if they’d like to go out with a win they should probably stop doing that. I mean, they probably won’t, but they should.

2) Let it all hang out - You’re not saving anything for next week in this one, folks. Get a little crazy and even more aggressive with the playcalling and see what happens. Sure, Nick Mullens threw four interceptions the last time these two teams played and the offensive line is banged up, but YOLO, am I right?

3) Try to build momentum for next season - This is one of those games where guys could, potentially, be trying to stake themselves out a roster spot or a different position on the depth chart for next year. Guys that might not get a lot of opportunities could potentially get some today, but for a lot of guys on this roster the 2024 season begins today. Hopefully they’ll play like it.

That should be everything you need to be prepared for this one. As always, we’ll start a new thread at the beginning of each quarter, so keep an eye out for those and keep the conversation moving along accordingly.

In about three hours, the 2023 regular season will be over. We’ve been through a lot over the last few months, and draft position be damned it would be nice to go out on a positive note.
