Winners of three straight division games, the Vikings are on a bit of a roll and looking to keep the momentum going. I looked to keep my own personal momentum going of being a guest on another podcast to talk about them.
This week, I once again filled in on the Zone Coverage Football Machine, joining usual hosts Sam Ekstrom and Arif Hasan. We started by giving out our “Woos and Boos” (not my phrase) of who did well and who did not as well in the 19-13 over the Bears at Solder Field on Monday night. There was high praise for Justin Jefferson, D.J. Wonnum, Hercules Mata’afa, Harrison Smith, and Mike Zimmer. For special teamers like Dan Chisena and KJ Osborn? Not so much.
Speaking of special teams, we briefly discussed the possibility of the Vikings making a change from Marwan Maalouf if things continue to go poorly for his charges. Next we revisited two recent trades—the Stefon Diggs and Yannick Ngakoue deals—and went over how those moves have panned out thus far. We also covered the rotating cast of cornerbacks and how the secondary might look for the rest of the 2020 season and next year.
From there we shifted our focus to Sunday’s game against the Cowboys at U.S. Bank Stadium. Can the Vikings take care of business and get to .500 as touchdown home favorites? Will Dallas’ skill players enjoy success now that Andy Dalton seems set to return on Sunday? Will Dalvin Cook live up to his ridiculously high fantasy projections against the Cowboys’ porous defense?
We wrapped up by doing the weekly gambling picks, a snake-style draft of games where we bet virtual money on the upcoming slate of NFL games. (Take Dolphins -3.5, Bengals +1.5, and Ravens -6.5 to the bank! Maybe!)
You can listen to the show in its entirety below; it’s always a fun and informative conversation with Sam and Arif.
