So, turns out the Indianapolis Colts will be missing their entire starting secondary on Friday. I still think the game remains a valuable time to evaluate Rosenfels and Jackson, but if one (or both) of them lights it up tomorrow, the obvious reaction is to point out that the QBs were facing Indy's scrubs. Of course, if one (or both) of the quarterbacks plays poorly, the lack of any starters in Indy's secondary would just add insult to injury.
Saw some folks wondering about my general feeling that Tarvaris Jackson might be winning the quarterback competition to this point. John Czarnecki stole the words right out of my mouth with this tidbit on the odds of the Vikings revisiting Favre. It's a scenario that doesn't have a chance of occurring, but Czarnecki's comment on Rosenfels is telling: The whole pursuit has damaged Childress in the locker room, but the coach also knows that Sage Rosenfels hasn't absorbed his offense while Tarvaris Jackson remains injury-prone. Friday's game will be the judge, and both quarterbacks have struggled at times this training camp (when both have been on the field). But as someone who initially supported Rosenfels, I'm disappointed that he hasn't pulled ahead as the clear favorite in the quarterback competition.
Following up what both Anthony and I have talked about today, Judd Zulgad says that he took Bobby Wade out of context and that Wade has no idea who the Vikings' starting QB will be. Cool. . .glad we cleared that up. Maybe.
Leslie Frazier took a day from Vikings camp to attend the service of his former mentor, Jim Johnson.
Bryant McKinnie is now a client of Drew Rosenhaus.
The Minnesota Vikings have come to terms on a contract with WR Percy Harvin. Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has always been a white-knuckle, blue-collar guy, and his hunting pursuits are no different.
Kenechi Udeze just released a statement on his retirement: My leukemia is still in remission and I am well. Unfortunately, however, I have decided to retire due to certain side effects from my pre-transplant treatment.
